WELCOME MESSAGE

Welcome to Maize in Missouri an interdisciplinary, inter-agency group focused on understanding all things maize from DNA to field to the products we use everyday. Our members include scientists from the University of Missouri and the Agricultural Research Service of the United States Department of Agriculture.

Maize, otherwise known as corn, is a major source of food, feed, fuel, and fiber. Corn kernels are an easily recognizable food product, however, corn oil and high fructose corn syrup are major components of many processed foods. Take our corn quiz and see if you can identify which of the 25 food items does not contain corn. In addition to human consumption, corn is used as food in livestock and poultry production as well as in aquaculture.
